Masjid Agung Jawa Tengah (central java grand mosque) is one of the grandest mosques in Indonesia. Mosque with beautiful architecture was built in 2001 and completed in 2006. Mosque complex consists of the main building area of 7669 m2 and 7500 m2 area of the yard. Masjid Agung Jawa Tengah is located on the road Gajah Raya, precisely in the Sambirejo Village, Gayamsari District, the city of Semarang.
The mosque which can accommodate no fewer than 15,000 pilgrims was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, in 2006. Inauguration ceremony was marked by the signing of the stone inscriptions as high as 3.2 m and a weight of 7.8 tonnes which is located in front of the mosque. The inscription is made of natural stone that comes from the slopes of Mount Merapi.

In addition to the main building are spacious and beautiful mosques, there are other supporting buildings. The building's supporters include: auditorium on the right wing side of the mosque which can accommodate approximately 2,000 people. The auditorium is usually used for exhibitions, weddings and other activities. The left wing contained the mosque library and office space for rent to the public. The main page there are six mosques which can also accommodate an umbrella hydraulic crowd of 10,000 people.
Another feature of this mosque form Asmaul Husna Tower (Al Husna Tower) with a height of 99 m. The tower can be seen from a radius of 5 km is located at the southwest corner of the mosque. In this mosque there are also giant Koran hand-written work of H. Hayatuddin, a calligrapher from the University of Science and Science Al-qur `an from Wonosobo, Central Java. Not only that, there is also a replica of a giant drum made by the students Islamic School Mangunsari Alfalah, Jatilawang, Banyumas, West Java.
